My Story

My name's William Lees and I am currently working as a Sound Designer/Haptic Audio Designer/Music Composer and have gained 3+ years in the audio industry, mainly working within the games sector.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a passion for sound. This stemmed from music, where I taught myself to play different instruments including guitar, drums and bass. This sparked my desire to write and record songs in bands.

Creative sound was at the forefront of my education, studying at sixth-form and then university. I then wanted to gain a deeper understanding of sound as a whole. I then went onto graduate with a First-Class BSc degree in Sound Engineering from the University of West London. This involved more technical modules like Acoustics and Electrical Audio Engineering, but also kept the creative side of my mind working with Music Production and Sound Design for Game and Picture modules. At the conclusion of the course, my newfound passion in this field was clear.

Since graduating with a first-class, I’ve gained 3+ years industry experience and I've had the pleasure to work on many games, a couple of highlights being working on the Haptic Audio for Inscryption, which is BAFTA Winning and Nominated game, and has won numerous other awards. Working on Taskmaster VR has also been a highlight, where I had the pleasure of doing the Dialogue editing and implementation for Greg Davies and Alex Horne's voices. In my spare time I'm also currently voluntarily working with Short Tale Sounds on their audio drama, Killing Time, where I create SFX and also compose music, and I'm also working on composing and mixing an album with friends of mine.

I'm very happy to say my passion for sound has become my job, and I'm always cooking up something new up in my studio.
